Sometimes I get the question "Are you sure I will be experienced enough to fish in an area like this?"
Well, do you have enough experience with spending money to win the lottery? Or should we save things like that for people like Uncle Scrooge because he already has experience with swimming in money.
My answer is this: If you have at any time in your life thought that you might have a slight inkling of a desire to catch a fish, get down here and fish Quepos. You may be in for an excitement that you will never believe. There is no experience needed to catch a 150lb Pacific Sailfish, the mate will do all the work in the baiting, trolling and hooking. All you need to do is smile, scream and reel.
A pretty funny story comes now to explain to you how much experience you need to come down here and catch a big fish. About two years ago a woman wandered in to Costa Mar Sportfishing and asked if they had a boat that could take her out to see some dolphins and maybe do some fishing. So they sent her out on a 1/2 day inshore trip. She saw some dolphins and was content... and this is what happened next.
This Pacific Snook was well over 50 lbs and was rushed back to the dock in hopes of a record. It turned out that the fish was a few pounds short, but what a catch!
You never know what your captain and mate will hook you up with. And remember that they will do as much or as little as you want them to, so whether you have spent a lifetime on a boat or would like to go out for a once in a lifetime experience the fishing here is a blast!
