What should I do with all this fish we caught?

What should I do with all of this fish?

It is quite possible to come home from a day of fishing in Quepos with hundreds of pounds of fish. So what to do with it all?

Many people have the idea of taking it home. However, the option of taking the meat to the U.S. or another country is not really a feasible after the packaging, shipping and all the hassle comes into play.

If you come home with enough fish for your party to munch on each night for the rest of your stay... keep it. Most hotels will be happy to store it for you and most restaurants will be happy to cook your fish to your liking and charge you a "plate fee," which will include all of your sides and the cost of them preparing your meal. This is a much cheaper alternative than buying a whole dinner and it is fun eating your catch!

If you catch way more than you can eat for the rest of the week, feel free to give some to your captain, mate and anyone else that has helped you out on your trip. A giant hunk of Tuna is always a great way to say thank you in my opinion!

The fish that is given to captains and mates during the high season allows for them and their families to keep fish in the freezer all year long and is a really nice gesture that can go a long way.
