Happy New Years. I guess I am officially a father of an infant. I slept on the couch until 11:55... then went back to sleep at 12:05. Just enough time to kiss my girls and go back to bed.
As we welcome in the new year we are also welcoming in the high season of fishing in Quepos. Fishing has been picking up a bit, but is still not exactly where some people would like to see it.
Jerry from Luna Tours said that he has fished five boats in the last few days. The Magic Moon caught 2 Sailfish, 2 Dorado, 3 Amberjack and 4 Snapper. Great Day! The Ojaran II released 1 Sailfish, 4 Amberjack and 2 Snapper. The Moon Walker boated 3 Sails and a Dorado. The Big Eye II released 5 Sails. And I am sure the clients on the Ojaran III are not gong to want to read the previous report, as they got completely skunked.
According to Leanne from Quepos Fishing Charters, the Three Brothers released 4 Sails, 2 Dorado and an Amberjack on December 29th and 3 Sails on the 30th. The fishermen were Nathan Jorde and Zach Eastman, respectfully. The Caribsea also released 1 Sailfish on December 30th.
While all of these boats caught fish, some of the anglers in the area are saying that fishing is still slow for this time in the season. That being said, I wouldn't mind catching 2 Sailfish, 4 Amberjack and 4 Snapper in a day! I guess a true fisherman can never have a good enough day.
