Jan 9th: Catching Sails and Dorado

E-mail Print PDF

It poured down rain in Quepos yesterday... I thought the rainy season was over. I guess that is the beauty of living in the rainforest.

Monday the Fishing Machine had a sick day, catching 5 Sailfish, a 400lb Blue  and a Dorado. The Wahoo II released 3 Sails and a Dorado. Holy Monday!

I have only heard from two boats today... The Fishing Maching and the Precedent.  The Fishing Machine boated two Sails and two Dorado. The Precedent also caught 4 fish, but with a 3 Sailfish 1 Dorado ratio. Both had a blast of a day and brought home dinner.

The last time I bought a Dorado (Mahi Mahi) fillet in the states it was $11/lb. I winced in pain. A week old, smelly $11 paper thin Mahi fillet in the states will never taste the same as a still bleeding, hours old, inch thick Costa Rican slab.
